Anthem Pets is reaching out to the community in hopes of raising enough funds for a dog in need. Two- year-old Miss Daisy, a poodle-mix, was found Oct. 29 abandoned in the desert in New River, hungry and suffering a severe case of Luxating Patella, or dislocated kneecaps.
Miss Daisy is settling into her loving new foster family, but until sufficient funds can be raised for a corrective surgery, she will continue to suffer pain and limited mobility. A fundraising website states the longer she waits before getting the surgery, the more her legs may suffer lasting or even permanent damage.
According to Anthem Pets, this type of procedure usually costs more than $3,000, but a local veterinarian in Cave Creek has offered to perform the operation for $1,200.
“We are so appreciative of his generosity,” said Lisa Kilwein of Anthem Pets, “Now we just need to raise the funds to get her the surgery.”
